Pyjama party

A pyjama party in the evening was a very popular alternative to halloween. We made pizza and 's'mores and had loads of fun.

'S'mores (chocolate biscuits sandwiched with melted marshmallows) done over a fire in the living room.

Old Lions

When I was very young (well about 9) my Mum made me a much longed for and much loved lion, he was called Leo. After many years of being used as a pillow or a seat, having been hugged and pulled around (by David) he ended up in the loft. Possibly not the kindest thing to do to such a cherished animal but kider than the alternatives suggested by my Mum!!
This weekend we emptied Mum and Dad's loft and therefore Leo came out too. I didn't take any photos of him at that stage but it probably suffices to say that he looked like he had been in a loft for a few years. Mum and I took him to the launderette, along with his tail which had been pulled off by David many years before. We think he enjoyed his trip in the machine although he wasn't making much comment when he emerged. He looked much, much better, his mane was back to it's usual peroxide blond colour and his fur was definately brown rather than grey brown.
He spent a few days sitting in slightly odd positions against the radiator to dry him out. However we found that he just wasn't feeling the same, his stuffing had gone a bit lumpy.
When I found a small hole in one of his seams (the first time that has happened in over 20 years) and poked my finger inside I found that his stuffing was still wet inside. After major discussions with the girls it was decided that drastic measures were needed. We surgically increased the size of the hole and removed his stuffing. This is what he looked like at the end of the operation. Still smiling but a little flat!

Rebekah and I fluffed up his old stuffing which was fairly wet.

After some time drying his fluff was returned to him and I sewed him up. It is lovely to have him back to his usually smiley and cuddly self

Grandma and Grandpa

It was lovely to be able to see Grandma and Grandpa over the weekend (that is my Grandparents and the girls Great Grandparents) After going to the Sound of Music on Saturday the girls performed a few songs from the show on Sunday, they had to adopt the correct singing posture of course.
The last photo here was taken by Rebekah, the general theme of movement being more than adequately displayed.

Out for lunch

To celebrate Mum's 60th birthday we went out for a meal, it was a quiet civilized affair. Rebekah decided to investigate the underside of her chair but decided not to get off the chair. As she looked very comfortable and was being extremely quiet we decided to leave her there until the food arrived!

Sound of Music trip

Because it was Mum's 60th birthday Beth, Rebekah and I went to London to visit the queen

But she wasn't home

so we went to visit Maria

The show was brilliant and the girls loved it. Rebekah does not find it easy to sit still but still enjoyed it. We also went for a meal afterwards and then home on the train.

Tintern Abbey

After the walk at Symonds Yat, Derek, Angela and their boys Matt and Tom came with us and a friend David to Tintern Abbey. It's been a while since we've been there and I'd forgotten quite how big it is. It was fun to go to. Beth took Rainbow bear and was asked to take special care of him (he's getting old) after a short while he went AWOL and had to be hunted down. He turned up sat in a bush where a kind passerby had placed him to get him out of harms way. He had lots of attention after that and had his photo taken lots of times. The photo of Derek shows Rebekah's eye view on life.

Walk at Symonds Yat

Today we had a lovely walk to Symonds Yat with lots of friends from church, the weather looks unpleasant but really was warm.

Flying Rebekah

Autumn on Dunkeld Avenue

Autumn is just starting here and Marie and the girls decided to make the most of the fallen leaves from the tree next door. When having a leaf fight it is a definate advantage to be taller than your opponents as Marie discovered.
